The Role

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with passion for making a difference and who loves ‘difference’ to join our team. The role is 5 days per week term time, plus 5 INSET days, with flexibility in working hours to suit the candidate, either:

  • 33¾ hours – 8.45am to 4:00pm (except 4.30pm finish on Wednesdays and 3:30pm finish on Fridays)
  • 29¾ hours – 8.45am to 3:00pm (except 4pm finish on Wednesdays)

St Luke’s is a wonderful Foundation Special School for pupils aged 7-16, who have a wide range of learning and social needs, fantastic personalities and skills that make this job truly special! We support each unique child to become happy learners and increasingly confident about their values and belonging.

It is not simply a photocopying and pencil sharpening job, but one where you will be fully engaged in working with vulnerable children and making a difference on a daily basis! Experience of working with pupils with special needs is not essential.

The applicant will be responsible for supporting our teachers and inspiring children with complex learning disabilities, all of whom have cognitive disabilities. Many of our children have Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD). The successful applicant will work with classes of mixed ages and will likely work with children across the school’s full age range.

Our children deserve the best quality professionals to support them in their transition to adulthood and thrive in life.

Can you:

  • Convey a positive ‘can do’ attitude to secure successful outcomes for our pupils?
  • Support the development and achievement of the school’s vision to secure success and improvement?
  • Work well in teams and partnerships?

This is a welcoming, caring and friendly school, full of vitality and enthusiasm. If this looks interesting - come and have a look around this amazing school and see if we're right for you too!

Thank you for your interest and looking forward to seeing you soon.

By submitting and signing your application, you acknowledge that such searches will be conducted as part of the shortlisting process.
